'Four Guj discoms top-most performers for 4 yrs'

Four state-run power distribution utilities in Gujarat have been top performers in country since last four years, state Energy Minister Saurabh Patel said here today.
"It is stated in the book 'State Distribution Utilities Third Annual Integrated Rating' released by Union Power Ministry. So far the rating exercises have been completed for the rating years 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 covering 40 state distribution utilities by designated credit rating agencies.
"All the four distribution utilities in the state of Gujarat figure in the top most category of A+," Patel stated in a release.
The integrated rating methodology for the discoms was developed by the Power ministry with the active involvement of Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), Power Finance Corporation (PFC), Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), distribution utilities and credit rating agencies CRISIL, ICRA and CARE.

The firms are: Uttar Gujarat Vij Vistaran Company, South Gujarat Vij Vistaran Company, Madhya Gujarat Vij Vistaran Company and Paschim Gujarat Vij Vistran Company.
"The methodology was given the final shape in consultation with the Department of Financial Services, MoF, IBA and major public sector banks," the release stated.
The exercise covered 40 state power distribution utilities and not the private companies and state power/energy departments.
