Four men were arrested for allegedly robbing a security guard of a government hospital in Dwarka's Chhawla area, police said Tuesday.
The accused -- Devendar (25), Vikram (26), Somdutt Sharma (34) and Iqbal (22) were nabbed on Monday from Najafgarh. The accused had robbed the security guard after offering him lift in their car.
The incident took place on July 6, when the victim was waiting to board a bus. A cab arrived and offered him lift to Mahipalpur for Rs 20. The cab already had four persons in it, police said.
"On the way to Mahipalpur, they forcibly took away his wallet, which had Rs 11,000, ATM card, some essential documents and a mobile phone. He was later dropped near Deenpur Mod," said Anto Alphonse, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka).
The accused were identified by analysing CCTV footage. The police first nabbed Devender from the BDO office in Najafgarh. One country made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession, the senior officer said.
The other three associates of Devender were also arrested later. The vehicle used to rob the security guard was also seized, the officer added.
During interrogation, Devendar told the police that he and his associates used to rob people to meet their drug and alcohol expenses.
He disclosed that they usually used to hang out in areas near Najafgarh and targeted one person at a time, the DCP said.
After offering lift, they use to rob the victims by threatening them and later dropped them at an isolated place, the officer added.
