Evidence suggesting existence of at least four tigers in Indore and Dewas forest ranges of Madhya Pradesh has been gathered by forest officials.
The evidence was gathered by Forest Department officials engaged in counting of wild animals in these ranges.
Two tigers were sighted by Forest Department personnel, while pugmarks suggested presence of as many more in the ranges spread over Indore and its adjoining Dewas district, senior officials said.
According to a Wildlife Institute of India (WII) report, 'Status of Tigers, Co-predators and Prey In India-2010', Indore and Dewas ranges are estimated to have at least seven tigers in the wild.
