Freight loading up by 4.60 per cent

Railways carried 445.73 million tonnes (MT) of freight during April-August this year, an increase 4.6 per cent over the traffic during the corresponding period last year.
During the month of August, the freight carried by railways was 88.15 MT, an increase of 5.01 MT or 6.03 per cent over the traffic of 83.14 MT carried during the same period last year, according to Railway Ministry data.
