An hour-long drama series will connect to the franchise by having notorious serial killer Jason Voorhees returning to Crystal Lake to victimise the town's current residents, reported Deadline.
A series of 12 feature films have explored Jason Voorhees's relationship to Crystal Lake and his own twisted family dynamic.
The new episodic series will also explore Jason Voorhees in multiple time periods.
Sean S Cunningham, who directed the original movie, will serve as executive producer on the 'Friday The 13th' television series.
"Jason Voorhees is synonymous with the genre and we plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the story lines that have already thrilled millions worldwide," Cunningham said.
Another feature film reboot is in the works from Michael Bay's production company.
