Tripp Vinson will produce a live-action comedy based on the second highest-selling iOS game of all time, The Hollywood Reporter said.
"Fruit Ninja" has had more than 1 billion downloads and centres on ninjas who slice their way through the likes of pineapples and strawberries.
The two have previously adapted "How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack", based on the 2010 book by Chuck Sambuchino, which is being developed by Robert Zemeckis's ImageMovers and Sony Animation.
Vinson Films has partnered with Halfbrick Studios for "Fruit Ninja", with Sam White and Tara Farney serving as executive producers.
