Jail officials said the scanner has been installed in jail number eight and nine on experimental basis, if it succeeds, nine more would be installed soon in all the 10 jails of the Tihar Prisons complex.
"A full body scanner has been installed in jail premises around two months ago," Director General (Prisons) Vimlaa Mehra told reporters here at the annual press conference.
Authorities have installed 32 mobile phone jammers in the Tihar campus while 10 mobile detectors have also been stationed in all its 10 jails.
Last year, as many as seven mobile phones and a number of SIM cards were seized from inmates. During the last one year 18 cases, in which inmates attacked each other with blade were also reported.
All the cases of recovery of mobile phones were referred to the police, officials said.
