"It has eroded the reputation of one of India's most reputed university. If Delhi University gives in to the pressure it would have an adverse repercussion worldwide," Moily said in a statement here.
Stating that the 4-year programme was launched in April 2012 and UGC's directive scrapping the FYUP has come on June 20 2014, he said that this has come as a bolt from the blue.
Taking a dig at UGC, Moily said "instead of acting as a buffer between the government and the university it has been doing the government bidding and acting against the autonomy of the universities."
Moily said, "The NDA government of Narendra Modi, having come to power with a governance and reforms mandate should stand up to the cause of autonomy of universities.
