Gadkari inaugurates first 'driving training centre' of Chapra

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today inaugurated the first 'driving training centre' of Chapra under the Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana in a bid to help the youth find employment opportunities.
Gadkari, along with Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy, inaugurated the centre at Aphaur village, near Khaira.
He also laid the foundation stone for upgradation and paved shoulder-widening of two National Highways, 85 and 102.
The work would be carried out on a 94.25-km stretch of NH 85 between Chapra-Siwan-Gopalganj, while the work on a 73.04-km stretch of NH 102 would be carried out between Chapra-Revaghat-Muzaffarpur.

Speaking on the occasion, Gadkari said such training centres would come in handy for the youth in getting jobs.
The Centre was committed towards the development of Bihar, he said, adding that funds would not be a problem for the state's development schemes.

Rudy, the Chapra MP, said there was a severe shortage of trained and efficient drivers in the country and hence, around 500 people, coming out of the centre every year, would get jobs across the country.
National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Rise India, a strategic investment firm, had joined hands for the project.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who was the special guest on the occasion, said the state government would soon take steps for development of Saran and its district headquarters town, Chapra.

Work on a road overbridge between Gandhi Chowk and Thana Chowk in the town would soon be taken up, he said.
Later, Gadkari dedicated the 107.56-km two-lane stretch of NH 28 between Muzaffarpur and Barauni to the people of the state at a function held at LS College grounds in Muzaffarpur.
The road-widening and upgradation of NH 28, along with the paved shoulder, was completed at a cost of Rs 354 crore.
The Union minister also announced that NH 28 would be converted into a four-lane highway and said he had sought proposals from the Bihar government for construction of 3,000 km roads in the state.
