TCIL pays Rs 3.65 crore dividend to govt

State-owned Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIL) today paid Rs 3.65-crore dividend to the government for FY2015-16.
"A K Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd, presented a dividend cheque of Rs 36.52 million to Hon'ble Shri Manoj Sinha, Minister of State for Communications in presence of Secretary, Telecom," TCIL said in a statement.
The telecom infrastructure firm has paid dividend of over Rs 185.9 crore to the government up to 2015-16 on government's initial investment in equity of Rs 30 lakh and Rs 16 crore infused during 2015-16, it said.
The government holds 100 per cent of its share capital. TCIL undertakes project in all field of telecommmunications, IT and civil construction in India and abroad.
TCIL has executed projects in over 70 countries of the globe including pan-Africa e-network project for healthcare and educational services in 48 african union countries.
Present operations of the company are in Kuwait, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Ethiopia, Algeria, Sierra Leone etc.
The networth of the company is Rs 2,232.15 crore.
"TCIL turnover and profit before tax has gone up to Rs 29,411.58 million and Rs 4,907.9 million, respectively," the staetment said.
In 2015-16, TCIL achieved a standalone turnover of Rs 1,358.2 crore and standalone profit before tax was Rs 42.37 crore showing increase of 63.35 per cent in turnover and 78.2 per cent in profit before tax as against previous year, it added.
TCIL, established in August 1978, is a mini Ratna category-1 status company under the Telecom Ministry.
