"55 people, including 22 women, who were brought by a gang of cheats from Bijnore on the promise of providing jobs to them under the central government-run Mahila Shaktikaran Scheme, were found unconscious in a passenger bus in Saharanpur yesterday," SSP-Saharanpur Vijay Yadav said.
The accused, had taken Rs 500 each from the victims for the jobs, served them sweets laced with sedatives while bringing them from Bijnore in a bus. All the victims fell unconscious and the gang fled with the money, he added.
