The cadres were rounded up when they were trying to escape after triggering the explosion and opening fire at the patrolling team near Savnar river under Gangaloor police station limits of the district, a local police official told PTI.
Two police personnel, including the Gangaloor station house officer (SHO) Manoj Singh, were injured in separate IED blasts triggered by Maoists in Gangaloor forests, around 450 kms away from here yesterday.
A joint team of Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and local police led by Singh had launched a counter-insurgency operation on October 9 night towards Savnar, Palnar, Todka and other villages.
Three suspects identified as Padam Mangu (28), Tati Pandu (30) and Kursam Munna (26) were nabbed from the forest while they were trying to flee after the incident, he said.
Later, when a rescue team of security personnel was engaged in evacuating the injured Singh, another blast was triggered by ultras near Palnar village that left Assistant Constable Gullu Vedja injured, he said.
Both the injured were admitted in a local hospital, where their condition is stated to be normal.
