Indian Oil's Indane bottling plant has commissioned two green units in Gangtok, a company statement said here today.
While one is a 20 KW solar power plant, the other being a rain water harvesting system with 30KL RCC tank.
The 20 KW solar power plant till date has generated 1700 KW power which reduces carbon footprint of 1.33 ton of Co2, in sync with Indian Oils sustainable development initiatives, the statement said.
Sikkim being one of the heavy rainfall zones, the project of the rain water harvesting system has become an alternative source of water apart from the prime source of spring water.
The harvested water has been designed to store in 30 KL RCC reservoir and is now being used for the replenishment of the 1400 KL fire water tank and for gardening purposes, the oil PSU said.
