Ganja valued at around Rs 2.5 crore was seized by the police at Balimela in Malkangiri district of Odisha today.
Two persons were arrested in connection with the illegal transportation of the ganja in a truck, police said.
The consignment was being illegally smuggled to Nashik in Maharashtra from Achutapuram in Visakhapatnam district of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh via Odisha, the police said.
On a specific information, a joint team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and police from Orkel police station intercepted the vehicle with Andhra Pradesh registration number and seized 1,598 kg ganja, they said.
The driver and helper of the truck, both residents of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, were arrested.
