Gas leakage was today reported from a pipeline of Greater Calcutta Gas Supply Corporation at Bally in Howrah district.
Fire Brigade personnel rushed to the area after residents complained of a pungent odour emanating from beneath a road near an abandoned factory building at Bally, a fire brigade official said.
The area has been blocked and the pipeline gas supplier was informed, the official said.
Police and fire brigade officials said they had not received any information about people falling sick after inhaling the gas and taken to hospital.
