The tug of war to host what would be Sachin Tendulkar's 200th and final Test is intensifying with the Gujarat Cricket Association, headed by BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, also expressing keen interest in hosting it as per the BCCI's rotation policy.
"I heard from GCA people that they are not going to let it go as it's their turn to host a Test after Karnataka State CA's as per the rotation system. GCA is full of people who are connected with BJP and they are not willing to let this golden opportunity slip out of their hands," said a top source in the Mumbai Cricket Association.
MCA has already written a letter to the Cricket Board that since it was Tendulkar's 200th Test, the match against the West Indies next month should be held at the Wankhede Stadium here.
Cricket Association of Bengal has also shown its interest to conduct Tendulkar's landmark match, which would also be his Swansong after his announcement today that he will retire post that game, at the Eden Gardens.
BCCI's programmes and fixtures committee is yet to meet after the Board's AGM to finalise the venues for the series involving two Test matches and three ODIs.
The Test matches are scheduled from November 6-10 and 14-18 and the ODI dates are fixed for November 21, 24 and 27.
