The 44-year-old star has been apparently roped in for the sci-fi adventure film which will be directed by Dean Devlin, said the Hollywood Reporter.
The 'Olympus Has Fallen' star will play the role of a stubborn satellite designer who has to work together with his estranged brother to save the world from a man-made storm of epic proportions.
The project, which initially was being developed by producer David Ellison's Skydance Productions, has now been picked up by Warner Bros and will start filming this fall.
Skydance will remain involved with Devlin's Electric Entertainment production.
