Ghanshyam Tiwari, a rebel BJP leader and president of the Deendayal Vahini, claimed today that the change in the state BJP leadership would not "cover up the sins" of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, and asserted that the party's defeat in the coming assembly election was "imminent".
Ashok Parnami resigned as the state BJP chief and was made a member of its national executive today.
The development comes ahead of the assembly election in Rajasthan later this year and is being seen as a fallout of the party's defeat in the January 29 bypolls to the Alwar and Ajmer Lok Sabha seats and Mandalgarh assembly constituency.
Confirming that he has submitted his resignation, Parnami said, "I have worked for strengthening the party as thestate party president. I will continue to work on the responsibilities given to me as a disciplined party worker."
