Devendra (22) and Saroj (20), both residents of Hardaspur village, were having an affair but the girl's family had fixed her marriage with some else, police said.
As pre-wedding ceremony of the girl was to take place today, the couple left their respective houses late last night and jumped before a train at Jaswantnagar overbridge.
While the boy died on the spot, the girl succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, police said.
