The girl, Pranali Bhoyar (a DEd student), had developed acquaintance with retired irrigation department deputy engineer Sudhakar Karadmare (58) while he was posted in Gadchiroli and both of them often used to travel together from there to Nagpur, police said.
As Karadmare allegedly tried to make advances towards her of late and harassed her for it, the girl stabbed him several times with a knife on Wednesday at his house in Rajratan Nagar of the city and fled from there, police said.
An investigation was on in the case, police said, adding that they were also probing the exact motive and immediate provocation behind the crime, and if any other person was also involved in it.
