Girl set ablaze after failed rape bid, dies

A 13-year-old girl succumbed to injuries after she was set afire allegedly by a youth for resisting his advances in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh, police said today.
The eighth class student, who had suffered 90 per cent burns in the incident on October 17 at Thirlapuram village of Garla mandal, died last night, they said.
According to police, the accused, identified as V Babu Rao, had allegedly doused the victim in kerosene and set her ablaze after she warded off his attempt to get intimate with her.
Rao has been arrested and booked for murder and other charges, said a police officer.
