Girl tries to commit suicide after family objects to her

A teenaged girl today made a futile attempt to self-immolate after her parents opposed to her affair with a youth in Nimdih under Nimdih police station of adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district, the police said.
Julie Das (14), a student of class IX, tried to commit suicide by setting herself ablaze this morning after her parents opposed to her affair, said officer-in-charge of the police station, T P Kushwaha.
Kushwaha said the critically injured girl was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but the doctors referred her to M G M Hospital here as she had suffered 90 per cent burn injuries.

He said the victim had threatened to end her life in the past too for the same reason.
The condition of Julie was stated to be critical, the OC added.
