The Goa government teachers can soon hope for quick resolution of infrastructural issues in schools like leaking toilets or non-functional taps through an upcoming mobile application.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told the Legislative Assembly today that Education department will launch a mobile app for the purpose.
"The government had spent Rs 68 crore on infrastructure in schools in the last five years. We are developing a mobile application, which will be given to the government school teachers," he said.
The chief minister said teachers could inform the Education department about a problem like leakage in toilets or non-functional taps in their schools through this app.
"They will get a response within the 48 hours," he said explaining the utility of the upcoming app.
The chief minister conceded that the government was facing infrastructure-related issues in rural areas, as the contractors are not ready to work there, especially in tribal areas.
The government had recruited 182 teachers in the last 10-15 days after issuing advertisements, he said.
Parrikar said the state-run schools are performing on par or even better than the grant-in-aid institutions (schools).
"Of 77 high schools, 22 high schools achieved one hundred per cent result for the SSC exam while 26 schools achieved 90-99 per cent," he said.
