Senior Goa Congress leader Pratapsinh Rane today said the state government was moving like a "headless chicken" in the absence of chief minister Manohar Parrikar who is in the United States of America for medical treatment.
He questioned the "lack of trust" on the part of Parrikar to delegate powers to his people.
"Our government is moving like a headless chicken. There are no quick decisions. Months have passed and we are waiting patiently," the former chief minister said, adding that this patience could run out.
"Why can't he (Parrikar) trust his own people? We have been without a leader for the last two and half months," Rane said.
Parrikar was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on February 15 after being diagnosed with mild pancreatitis.
He was discharged after a few days and returned to Goa to present the budget on February 21.
He landed in USA for medical treatment on March 7.
Meanwhile, the Congress' national secretary, A Chellakumar, today slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir.
Chellakumar was in Goa to oversee the appointment of Girish Chodankar as the president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee.
Chodankar was appointed Goa Congress president last week on Thursday.
"In Kathua, an 8-year-old girl was raped and murdered but Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who promised a safe India when he assumed power in 2014, has remained completely silent on the issue," Chellakumar told a gathering of party workers here.
