Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Pramod Sawant has ordered an inquiry after a question forwarded by an MLA to his office and its reply from a government department, which was supposed to be tabled during the monsoon session beginning tomorrow, was found leaked.
Sawant has directed state Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma to conduct the inquiry.
The matter came to light after activist Kashinath Shetye posted the question, forwarded by Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, as well as its reply from Electricity department on his social media networking page.
Interestingly, Shetye is an employee of the same department.
"We have already filed a complaint against Kashinath Shetye and an unknown official from the government department with the chief secretary when we noticed that the reply was already uploaded on his page on a social media website," Sawant told reporters here today.
"The question sent by the legislator first comes to my office, from where it goes to the concerned department for a reply. The reply is then forwarded to my office which subsequently sends it to the MLA," the Speaker explained.
"In this case, the question as well as its reply were uploaded on the Facebook account of Shetye even before it was sent to the MLA. So there must a leak either from the concerned government department or from my office. The inquiry will reveal the details," Sawant said.
Cabral, who had forwarded the question, has also approached the privilege committee that will take an appropriate decision on the matter.
"We don't know who has leaked it. It might be leaked through the government department or Kashinath Shetye himself who is also a government servant," Sawant said.
