Velignkar-mentored Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) today claimed that it has the support of Sangh cadres for the upcoming Assembly polls and those who were with BJP in the past elections.
"Those who elected BJP (in 2012 Goa polls) and RSS cadre are with our party who will ensure that we win the forthcoming election," GSM president Anand Shirodkar claimed.
Polls in Goa are scheduled to be held next year.
As Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar completed two years in office today, GSM criticised the social welfare schemes of his government alleging that these make citizens dependent on the system.
"It does not require to be called an achievement if you keep on piling debts to service the social welfare schemes which make people dependent on the system.
"Rather, the Goa government should help its citizens, specially youth and women, to become financially independent," Shirodkar said.
He alleged that BJP believes in making people dependent rather than allowing them to live with self-dignity.
"BJP completely lacks the foresight to develop Goa. The state government should ideally work on utilising available resources," the GSM chief claimed.
Responding to Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's statement that he will campaign for Goa polls, Shirodkar said, "The minister is completely ignoring critical defence issues and concentrating on Goa only to save the sinking ship of BJP."
GSM is a political wing of Velingkar-led Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM).
