The youth wing of the Goa Forward Party Monday petitioned Governor Mridula Sinha alleging that injustice was being meted out to domiciles of the state in recruitments in the Goa University.
A delegation of Goa Youth Forward, the GFP's youth wing, led by functionaries Raj Mallik and Durgadas Kamat met Sinha, who is the chancellor of GU, in the afternoon and apprised her of what the party claimed were gross loopholes deliberately left by university authorities while advertising vacancies for 82 posts.
The GYF's memorandum to the governor claimed that during GU's recruitment drive for 82 posts, a deliberate move was being made to keep "Goans" out.
It said the university was "reluctant" to apply the requirement for domicile for the posts despite it being part of the institution's statute.
"This is another ploy to deny Goans their right by not implementing the domicile requirement. University authorities do not have the right to bypass any statute without the permission of the government," the GYF delegation told the governor.
The memorandum alleged that GU authorities are going about the recruitment in such a way that it would allow someone to approach court and get the domicile requirement struck down, in the process harming the interest of Goans.
It further contended that GU authorities, by stipulating knowledge of Konkani as "essential" and Marathi as "desirable", were deliberately trying to create confusion as the statute only mentions Konkani.
The GFP, with three MLAS, is an ally in the BJP-led Goa government.
