Nobody was injured in the incident as the godown was located in an isolated area.
Panvel in Raigad district is located around 48 kms away from Mumbai.
"Our control room got information at 4.22 P.M about the blaze in the private godown, following which four fire engines with water tankers were rushed to the spot, which is located 15 kms away from Panvel," a Kalamboli fire brigade official said.
The godown where plastic scrap material was stored was completely gutted in the incident, he added.
The local police are investigating the cause of the blaze, he added.
