Gogoi appeals to Centre to improve job growth

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today expressed concern over 7-year low job growth in the country and urged the Centre to improve it.
According to an official release, Gogoi appealed to the Centre to prioritise policies that would link GDP growth with job growth as the country's job creation has hit a seven-year low in 2015 as per survey by the Labour Bureau.
"It is a matter of great concern that employment generation in key sectors has hit a seven-year low, thus serving a blow to the large pool of human resources.
"One would expect creation of job opportunities to follow closely with GDP growth, but this seems to be going into oblivion in Centre's agenda of things.

"The much-hyped 'Start-Up India' and 'Skill India' initiatives seem insufficient as the Centre is seemingly trapped in policy paralysis with no futuristic breakthrough in the job market," Gogoi said.
He said the Centre's "myopic vision in new jobs" was even worse in Assam and other north eastern states.
The Chief Minister said the NDA government's decision to remove Special Category Status to North East and suspension of North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy had its cascading effect on investment and job creation in the region.
"I urge upon the Prime Minister to take the matter seriously and do something substantive for creation of employment avenues for the large pool of educated manpower in the region," Gogoi said.
