Top 60 players of the PGTI order of merit after their calendar year will vie for top honours in the tournament which got a big boost after McLeod Russel took a three-year title rights.
To be known as McLeod Russel Tour Championship, the prize money will be increased to Rs 1.35 crore for 2012 and Rs 1.5 crore (2014) that will be at par with Asian Tour events, the organisers said today.
There will be five slots reserved which will be given to the players competing away like in the European circuit.
Announcing the event, PGTI director Padamjit Singh Sandhu said, "We will look forward to building on the event year on year. We are confident that the partnership with McLeod Russel will give a strong boost to the growth of the sport in the region and help create new champions in the coming years." PTI TAP RG PDS
