The train was on its way from Delhi to Jammu and derailed soon after crossing the Kathua railway station, a police officer said.
"Three bogies of the good train derailed, and there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the accident as the train was moving at a slow pace," he said.
Several trains on the Jammu-Pathankote railway line had to be stopped at several places following the derailment of the goods train, he said.
Senior DGM Jammu RN Mina along with technical team reached the spot to restore the railway traffic, he said.
"There is no suspicious of any militancy activity or act of any anti-social element. It is purely a technical snag and there is no conspiracy of sabotage behind this," he said.
He said that efforts are going on to restore the traffic on the busy Jammu-Pathankote railway line. "We are working to restore the railway traffic on the line," he said.
He said that because of the accident, around six trains are running late and the number might increase.
