The award is given annually by Mandd Sobhann to Konkani artistes from the fields of folk arts, theatre, music and dance.
Mandd Sobhann committee, in a release here, said Gowda was selected for the honour considering his immense contribution to the preservation, promotion and popularisation of 'Kudmi' Konkani folk arts.
The troupe of Gopal Gowda, a noted Kudmi folk artiste, is well-known in the world of folklore and had rendered more than 200 performances across the country.
The award, comprising a cash award of Rs 25,000 and a citation, would be presented at a function here on November 5, the release said.
