In a meeting to take stock of the action taken by three premier industry chambers CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM, Union Minister Kumari Selja asked them to intensify their efforts in areas of education and employment for the socially weaker sections.
"The representatives from industry chambers CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM gave a brief about various actions being taken by them in areas of employment, employability, entrepreneurship development and education of weaker sections of the society," a Ministry release said.
Noting that these chambers have made good beginning in the direction of affirmative action, Selja advised them that focus should be placed on skill development and promotion of entrepreneurship qualities among the weaker sections.
"The success stories should be publicised widely which would have a positive impact on the mindset of people towards the weaker sections, which, in turn, would be a key factor for ensuring their inclusive growth," the Social Justice and Empowerment Minister said.
The industry chambers should organise more and more events, in this direction and due publicity should be given for creating awareness about it, she said.
