Govt bracing up to deal with poor monsoon rains: Hooda

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the government was bracing up to deal with possibility of delayed and weak monsoon rains this year in the state.
The state government was making arrangements to deal with the situation that included providing adequate electricity to the farmers, Hooda told reporters at Karnal.
The adequate arrangement of power has been been made for agriculture use, he said, adding "We are prepared to deal with the situation."
Hooda said the state government is providing eight hours of electricity for the tubewells consumers in the State.
When asked to comment on the implementation of recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee, Hooda said being the chairman of the working group of Chief Ministers constituted by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he had raised his voice in the interest of farmers and would continue to do so in future also.

The Committee ensures at least 50 per cent profit to the farmers over and above the cost of production.
