Holding placards, the protesters took out a procession under the banner of Uttarakhand Adhikari Karmachari and Shikshak Sangharsh Morcha and demanded scrapping of an ex- cadre created by the state government with a view to granting reservation in promotion to SC/ST employees in government jobs.
Government employees were on strike for nearly a fortnight last month demanding scrapping of a government order for creation of an ex-cadre.
They had postponed their agitation after an assurance from Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna that the government order in this regard will be reviewed at a meeting of the state Cabinet to be held after conclusion of the Tehri Lok Sabha bypoll.
