"The government is showing complacency, it is lacking in discharging its duty of protecting people, especially minorities, their lives, property and honour (Izzat-Abroo)," he said.
Umari also questioned the incident yesterday in which five suspected terrorists were shot dead by police in Telangana, allegedly as they tried to escape from a police van. However, he stopped short of terming it a "fake encounter".
Talking about terror suspects being held in custody for long durations before being freed due to lack of evidence, Umari said, "If 10-12 years after arresting someone you say no evidence was found, then it's of no use... As the person is finished by then and his family is destroyed."
"It adopted resolutions on the national situation and expressed concern over the growing influence of corporate sector. A resolution on problems of minorities was also adopted in the five-day session," Aslam added.
