In a deviation from the past practice, the Kerala government today entrusted the Public Service Commission with the task of making appointments to the state Waqf Board.
Earlier, the Waqf Board used to make the appointments to all the posts under the Waqf Act, 1995.
A decision to entrust the PSC with making the appointments was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, an official release said.
Henceforth, the Board would report vacancies to the PSC, it said.
