"This is just a cosmetic gesture as the scheme has been announced two months ahead of the assembly polls. In fact, it would put additional burden on the residents of these resettlement colonies due to faulty guidelines," Delhi BJP Chief Vijay Goel said.
Slamming Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Gandhi for misleading the residents, he said, the Congress government speaks of giving ownership papers to the residents of resettlement colonies that came up between 1960 and 1985, but it is silent on the JJ Clusters and resettlement colonies that came up between 1990 and 2007."
"While those, who bought plots after 2007, would have to pay 100 per cent of the circle rate to get the ownership papers, for which people would have to spend lakhs of rupees," Goel said, adding those who sold their plots many times before or after 2007, would be charged 100 per cent circle rates.
"This means that they are being coerced to cough up lakhs of rupees," he alleged.
Goel alleged that Delhi government has been cheating people of JJ clusters and resettlement colonies ahead of every election with false promises.
Questioning the increase in water bills, he said Dikshit who is also chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board, must explain how from 1998 when the monthly water bill of an average household was Rs 7.50 it has shot up to Rs 1500 per month.
"Why of the 29,000 people living in slums, who applied for housing in 1985, only 8,500 were allotted houses, and also why the advance taken from the rest 20,000 applicants was not returned immediately," he asked.
