Govt sanctions 24 new engineering colleges in TN

Human Resource Development ministry has sanctioned setting up of 24 new engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu for the current academic year, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
There are 498 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. "24 new engineering colleges have been sanctioned for the year 2013-14. The process for grant of approval for 2014-15 has not been started yet," Minister of state for HRD, Shashi Tharoor, told Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a query.
He said all the engineering colleges are affiliated to universities in the state.
