"To make available drugs at affordable prices through Jan Aushadhi stores, the cooperation of state governments, union territories have been sought to open Jan Aushadhi stores in all
the medical collages and district hospitals," Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
The private entrepreneurs have also been encouraged to open the stores, he added.
Besides, representatives of Indian Medical Association (IMA) were called in various workshops and seminars held for Jan Aushadhi scheme and persuaded to encourage their member medical practitioners to prescribe generic drugs, Ahir said.
