The government has decided to create a centralised data bank of statistics related to women and children from across the country that will be accessible to all departments and act as crucial indicators in policy frameworks.
'Matrix' is being developed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to integrate data of all surveys on women and children issues.
"We trying to develop a matrix in which various crucial data of women and children can be collected as it will give clear position of the concern problem and will be easy to extract information about a particular issue," a senior ministry official said.
He said that 'Matrix' will be accessible to all departments for better coordination of information.
"For instance more than 40 per cent of the women suffer from malnutrition and a certain department wants to find out which are the age groups which have more malnutrition or which districts have larger percent of malnourished children, it can get all this information from the Matrix," he said.
Matrix, which will be developed on the cloud, will help in integrating surveys done in different formats to give an overall indicator.
"Presently surveys are being done by National Sample Survey Organisation, Family Health Survey and district-level surveys. Different formats are used by different organisations. We are trying to integrate this," the official said.
The ministry is also trying to integrate its data of Integrated Child Development Scheme with the ministry of Health better flow of information both ways between the two ministries.
