Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said his government will launch a "sports scheme exclusively for the mentally challenged and persons with disabilities, especially children".
According to an official release, Gogoi made this announcement when a 10-member team of mentally challenged children taking part in the Asia Pacific Olympic Games 2013 at New Castle in Australia met him here today.
Gogoi, however, did not share other details such as what kind of scheme it will be or when it will be launched.
The team, accompanied by coaches and officials, sought some financial assistance from the state government to meet their travel and other expenses for the event to be held from November 28 to December 7.
