Govt to provide amenities to ex-CMs of Assam

Government amenities, including rent-free furnished accommodation and security will be provided to former Chief ministers of Assam who had completed minimum continuous tenure of one year in the post.
Assam Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, in a notification dated February 29, declared that the former Chief ministers of the state shall be provided with two sets of facilities at two locations.
Rent-free furnished accommodation of the status of a Cabinet minister, one private secretary, one assistant, one driver, four PSOs, house guard party(1+4) at maximum of two locations which can be augmented as per threat perception of the ex-Chief minister, two peons and telephone at the state headquarters would be provided, the notification said.

However, if any ex-CM is already availing such facilities at the state headquarters in view of any office that he may be holding then the person may choose to avail one out of the two sets of facilities, the notification added.
