Government is planning to rope in NTPC and Power Grid Corporation to provide electricity to Andhra Pradesh where large parts are reeling under darkness due to strikes following the decision to create Telangana.

"We are doing something. NTPC and PowerGrid will provide electricity to Andhra Pradesh," Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters here when asked about government's plan to restore electricity in Seemandhra region in Andhra Pradesh.

Seemandhra region has been witnessing massive protests following the October 3 decision of the Union Cabinet to create Telangana.

Power generation has remained crippled at major power stations, including the Vijayawada thermal power station and the Rayalaseema thermal power station, forcing authorities to impose power cuts ranging between three and ten hours.
