Govt varsities in Rajasthan to adopt rainwater harvesting

Government universities have been asked to construct ponds in the villages adopted by them to preserve rain water in Rajasthan.
Governor Kalyan Singh has written letters to the VCs of the universities and also asked the Divisional Commissioners and the Collectors for the demarcation and allotment of land for the purpose, a release stated yesterday.
Singh, in the letter, has asked the VCs to create the water structure so that rain water could be stored and utilised for local needs.
The Governor also asked them to plant trees to increase green cover around the ponds.
