Goyal seeks CAs participation to make social schemes a success

Power Minister Piyush Goyal today asked chartered accountants to give a push to various government initiatives including insurance, pension schemes and the Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan (SVA) to make them a success.
The CA fraternity and the students should ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach out to people, Goyal said adding the strength of over 2.35 lakh members and more than 8.50 lakh students can have a large impact on the society and take forward this initiative by leaps and bounds.
"Please make this (SVA) a success because it will be your success. My ministry is spending Rs 2,000 crore on the scheme which is part of Rs 10,000 crore drive to construct separate toilets for boys and girls in schools," Goyal said addressing at 66th anniversary of Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICAI).

The minister stressed on the need for improving the hygiene and conditions in schools by constructing over 2.5 lakh toilets under the scheme with special focus on eastern states.
He further said that ICAI members and lakhs of its students can easily help the government to achieve the target of over one crore insurance policies under the recently launched insurance and pension schemes in a years time.
He said that they can choose any auspicious day like Diwali or Christmas to subscribe these social security schemes.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, a one year term life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh is provided for a premium of Rs 330 per annum per subscriber.

Similarly, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, one year term accidental death and full disability cover of Rs 2 lakh is provided for a premium of Rs 12 per annum.
Under the Atal Pension Yojana, there is guaranteed minimum monthly pension for the subscribers ranging between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000 per month.
The minister also asked the fraternity to share their new ideas and experiences with the government to give boost the innovation in the country.
