Former home secretary L C Goyal took over as the Chairman and Managing Director of India Trade Promotion Organisation on Wednesday.
"L C Goyal, a senior IAS officer of Kerala Cadre 1979 batch, took over as the Chairman and Managing Director of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) with effect from September 2, 2015," a statement issued by ITPO said.
On August 31, the government had appointed the outgoing Home Secretary Goyal as the Chairman and Managing Director of ITPO.
Earlier, Goyal had sought an early retirement, 17 months ahead of schedule, for personal reasons.
He was replaced by Economic Affairs Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi in the Home Ministry.
Set up in 1977, ITPO is the nodal trade promotion agency of the government and functions under the supervision of the Commerce Ministry.
