GR on allowing homeo, Unani docs to prescribe allopathy soon

The Maharashtra cabinet today decided to go ahead with its earlier decision to allow Homeopathy and Unani practitioners to prescribe allopathy medicines and said a Government Resolution (GR) to this effect will be issued soon.
The decision to allow homeopathy practitioners to prescribe alopathy of completion of a year's course, was taken in January this year, but a GR was not issued.
The law and judiciary department was of the view that central government permission be taken since G.R can be challenged in the court and the decision of the government could be stayed.
However, today the cabinet overruled the law and judiciary department's opinion and felt the previous cabinet decision taken unanimously should be implemented.

Sources said majority of the ministers said the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act be amended and GR should be issued and the amended Act be passed in the legislature session which begins from June two.
