Goa government has filed 28 cases of corruption against its own officers, ranking upto the heads of department, which are currently being investigated, the Legislative Assembly was told today.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, responding to a question tabled by Congress legislator Vishwajit Rane on the floor of the House, said that in several cases matters are pending for registration of a criminal case.
The reply mentions names of government departments like Directorate of Health Services, Directorate of Mines and Geology, Department of Commercial Taxes, Public Works Department, Directorate of Animal Husbandry and others.
All the cases are in connection with appointment for various posts.
Out of 28 cases, three are pending registration of a criminal case before the police, Parrikar said.
The rest are being inquired, a few of which are still at the preliminary stage, he added.
After coming to power in the state, the Manohar Parrikar-led government had cancelled several appointments by the erstwhile regime, claiming that they were to garner votes.
Several officers were placed under suspension by the new government, who were later reinstated with inquiry pending against them.
