Gram, its dal extend gains, climb Rs 700 per qtl

Gram and its dal prices rose for the second straight day by soaring Rs 700 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on persistent speculative buying, triggered by scarcity of stocks against rising demand.
Rajmah chitra and a few other pulses also ended higher on uptick in demand from retailers.
Traders said persistent speculative buying by stockists, driven by tight stocks position on fall in supplies against rising demand mainly kept gram and its dal prices higher.
In the national capital, gram, gramdal local and best quality remained in demand and surged further by Rs 700 each to Rs 11,700-11,900, Rs 11,900-12,200 and Rs 12,300-12,400 per quintal, respectively.

Besan Shaktibhog and Rajdhani too quoted higher at Rs 4,860 instead of Rs 4,700 each per 35 kg bag.
Rajmah chitra climbed to Rs 6,000,8,800 from previous level of Rs 6,000-8,200 per quintal.

Urad and its dal chilka local also moved up by Rs 200 each to Rs 7,450-9,050 and Rs 7,900-8,000 per quintal. Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 8,000-8,500 and Rs 8,400-8,700 per quintal.
Moth gained Rs 200 to Rs 4,200-4,500 per quintal.
Moong and its dal chilka went up by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,400-6,000 and Rs 5900-6200 per quintal. Its dal dhoya local and best quality enquired higher by the same margin to Rs 6,500-7,000 and Rs 7,000-7,200 per quintal.

However, arhar and its dal dara variety lacked necessary buying support and slipped by Rs 200 each to Rs 6,800 and Rs 8,700-10,500 per quintal.
